Fashion Icon of the Fortnight - AMANDA STEELE

Amanda Steele; one of the greatest beauty and fashion gurus of all time, only 17.

Yes, it's finally time for another 'Fashion Icon of the Fortnight', and I'm going to be crowning someone that I have been watching for a long time, however always slips my mind when it comes to writing any of these posts (and for once, I'm actually going to be talking about fashion, who would've though?!)

Amanda Steele, AKA MakeupbyMandy24, is a well renown fashion and beauty YouTuber from California. Starting her channel at the age of TEN is probably one of the most impressive things I have ever heard, as she racks up a total of nearly 3 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS on her main YouTube channel, and let's not forget that she's also a SIGNED IMG MODEL! I mean seriously, talk about starting your career at a young age!

I have been a fan of Amanda's for what seems forever. I started watching her videos back in 2012, the first video being her 'January Favourites 2012' which, watching it back, definitely shows how long ago that was and how much she truly has improved and grown in the last 4 years. Being able to film and produce content that was actually an amazing job coming from a 13 year old at the time just shows how much talent she truly has, and how much passion she has for what she does for her career.
When comparing it to her recent content, also, you can see how much effort she puts in to her new videos, and how much editing she really has to do. Her voiceovers and jump cuts all seem to flow to professionally, but also giving you that natural flow and realism that you want to see from YouTubers, showing you that they are real people too and what they do is totally easy for you to achieve, too (something that is important especially when you are a beauty/fashion blogger/vlogger).

Something that I love about Amanda and what makes her so unique from other gurus is that she focuses a lot on the whole picture. Whereas a lot of high profile beauty gurus only focus significantly on makeup, Amanda ties in the element of makeup with other ideas, like fashion, 'outfit of the day's, beauty routines, daily routines; things that are kind of important when it comes to getting ready and taking care of yourself. I'm not sure if it's just me, but when I see makeup tutorials online, all I'm wondering after is, "what are you going to wear with that look and how are you tying all of this together?"
Seeing Mandy's Look Books and 'Outfit of the Day/Week', it gives me more ideas of what I can wear, and seeing them alongside her tutorials I think it ties her channel together nicely and gives you professional and helpful content that is seeded by her audience. My favourite videos are definitely her outfit ones where she shows you her favourite outfits at the time and edits a voiceover discussing each piece and where you can purchase them from, her most recent being her 'Summer OOTW! 2016'. I love beauty, but I am also addicted to sh
opping and clothes, so these type of videos are definitely what I live for, and when I log in to YouTube to catch up with my subscriptions they are definitely the first that I click. I follow a lot of beauty gurus on YouTube but they are all very similar and post the same content each time, which can become repetitive; something I never seem to find when it comes to Amanda as all her videos seem just as unique as the one before them. Even when she's not making these incredibly elaborate videos she is vlogging or making other videos for her second channel!

I think all in all, it is clear that Amanda is extremely talented and puts in a lot of effort in to all her content. The fact that she has been moulding her career to what it is today for the past SEVEN YEARS shows just how devoted she is to her YouTube channel. She is incredibly hard-working and knows what she has to do in order to drive more and more viewers to her channel, and the fact that I have been watching her content for the past 4 years shows just how divulging her videos are.
I can only imagine what else she is going to achieve, being only 17 years old with an amazing career already under her belt. It would be nothing more than an honour to crown her my next 'Fashion Icon of the Fortnight'.
