FESTIVAL SEASON - PRACTICALITY IS RAD!

With Coachella already behind us, it means that in the UK especially, festival season is upon us. This year, I am hoping myself to be attending a number of festivals, and a lot of high street retailers and so on advertise the festival season as some type of glamorous event where you wear flower crowns and suede tassel tops and cowboy boots, but this is DEFINITELY not the case. With Coachella being so highly recognised due to it's high celebrity count and publicity, it is often a given that people get confused with what actual festivals are like; I can tell you, there will be no palm trees and sun when you're dancing in a mud pit at Reading Festival next to a load of lads that are off their faces on drugs (probably a given to be honest). So, here's my practicality guide to what you should bring for the upcoming festivals if you're attending!

Tent (obvs)
Obviously the most important thing to take with you to a festival is a tent, well, only if you're planning to stay the night. Your tent is where you'll keep all your stuff, your shelter for when you sleep and just overall your security blanket, so make sure that it fits all your needs. It might be nice to have a large tent with a living room, a bathroom space and a blow up bed already available, but think about how much you need to carry and if it's really worth it. Make sure you purchase one that is heavy duty (especially for English weather) however don't go OTT with it.

Lightweight Raincoat
Although it is always hoped for that it'll be warm and sunny when you go to festivals, this is definitely not the case as 80% chance it'll be raining the whole time you're there. While you want a coat that will keep you dry, you also have to ensure that, once again, it isn't too heavy for you to carry, Coats take up a lot of space, so if you miraculously do not need it, it'll be a bit of a hindrance. On the other hand, don't get a cheap thin one because they do not keep you dry (I have learnt this the hard way).

Sunglasses
Not only do sunglasses protect your eyes from the sun, they also are great shields for when you're hungover and you haven't sleep since you got there, and you are maybe a little drunk still so your eyes are all blood shot and nasty... lifesaver.

Paracetamol
For the same reason as the sunglasses, when you're on that 3rd day after no sleep/too much alcohol, paracetamol will be your friend.

Shoes You Don't Mind Ruining
Yes Kendall Jenner probably wore unworn shoes that are limited edition costing $40,000 to Coachella, but that does not mean you have to. It is a given that there will be a lot of mud, and even with that people spilling drinks and "other stuff" on them they may become a bit ruined. With this you want to ensure that you're not going to mind if they do; you'll have a better time not having to think about it rather than having a "MY NEW SHOES!" moment every 20 seconds. Also, ensure that they're waterproof; always a bonus.

Dark Clothing
Like the shoe dilemma, because of the amount of mud that will be everywhere, its probably a best idea to wear dark(er) clothing so that you don't see when you're covered in mud. If you're wearing white or pastels etc it is SO easy to see stains, and if you're mad drunk, also, it could be a little embarrassing if it's easy to see. However, I will also add that if it is warm, this may be a setback as you will definitely feel the heat more in blacks; I'd suggest shorts and a dark coloured t-shirt, that way it's a win-win situation.
