Men's Fashion: Women's Alternatives

Seeming how popular my first post on this topic was, I decided that I'll create a new updated version for you guys looking at the style choices of the most fashionable men in the public eye right now, and giving you guys some inspiration for your own styling!
What I love the most about trends this recently is the versatility between men's and women's fashion. Although I am not one for petty genderisation, especially when it comes to clothing as I believe anyone can wear whatever they want and express themselves in a way that they feel and look good in; however, with that being said, unfortunately fashion has always had a gender divide, however this post can help you find fashion trends that are in for this SS15 and find them in women's sizes that are best suited for your body types!

Zayn Malik

Yes, the news broke yesterday that Zayn Malik from the best band ever, One Direction, has left the band for good *sob*. To celebrate Zayn and what is left of his spirit with the band, let's look at his style choices!
Zayn often goes for the chilled, "bad boy" look, opting for leather jackets in the winter, and denim jackets in the summer. However, the usual look that Zayn usually goes for is a simple oversized black tee. What I love about black tees are that they are extremely versatile, and can be worn with anything. You can dress it up a little with an A-line skirt and chunky boots for those days out to the cinema with friends, or dress down, like Zayn, with some simple black skinnies. To spruce up that oversized black tee look, why not go for an edgy print, like Zayn's MTV tee. Personally, I like the Criminal Damage T-Shirt from ASOS which gives the same edgy vibe that Zayn often sports. My favourite look would be with a metallic skirt, like the ASOS Mini Skirt In Metallic Leather with chunky boots, accessorising with some statement sunnies and small over shoulder bag.

Sam Claflin

Oh the reign of the pretty British boys. Being British myself I find this really ironic as we are notorious for bagging the hottest guys in celeb-land, although it's a different story when you're roaming the streets; the rumours are not true, not everyone in the UK looks as good as Harry Styles. However, the likes of Sam Claflin proves that "gentleman style" is still about even in 2015, dressing in the most suavest outfits literally all the time. Seriously. All the time.
What I like about Sam's style is that he understand the occassional dress and what is appropriate for wherever he is. Sam is definitely a fan of plaid shirts and knows what to dress them with for every occasion. Wear them loose, like Sam, over a t-shirt dress with lace-up boots or Converse for that laid-back look, perfect for hanging out with friends or just going for that chilled look.
One thing that Sam is g r e a t at, however, is scrubbing up well. Even for that smart look, Sam's go-to is usually a check shirt worn underneath a jumper with some smart trousers and shoes.Check shirts have been around for a long time and are starting to grow a little out of fashion, especially heading in to spring/summer. However why not spruce up your check shirt by choosing an outgoing pattern, like the River Island Check Shirt found at ASOS. For that smart look, I would wear this with a chunky jumper, like the Carhartt Chunky Knit Boyfriend Jumper, black skinnies and statement brogues; the gold brogues would look amazing with this look as the shirt has hints of yellow in it, however the focus of colour is hidden by the jumper, so the shoes bring back that spruce that is needed to stop this outfit looking dull.

Bradley Simpson

Like Sam, Brad is known for his check shirts, however often wears them with that Matt Healy style, unbuttoning a few to bring that edgier vibe. However, Brad's most distinguished style is definitely the fedora-sunnies combo that he uses to accessorise EVERY outfit. Brad is obviously a huge fan of hats and knows how to pull them off extremely well, especially a fedora, fit for this season's sunny weather (hopefully). The Burgundy Fedora from ARK is great for mirroring Brad's look, and the burgundy colour is an easy wear for any outfit; although it is more daring than black or brown, it can still be matched with all colours as well as adding vibrance to an outfit. For that more fashionable, feminine look for this summer, why not try the Purple Oversized Fedora from River Island, which will be great for those summer garden parties coming up soon!
Brad L O V E S to wear sunglasses, also, and often goes for a rounder shape than the classic square frame that most guys opt for. I love the new collection of sunglasses that New Look have in, my favourite for Brad's style steal being the Purple Round Frame Sunglasses. What I hate most about round sunglasses is that if they are too small for your face they can make your eyes look extremely small and "porky", which is why these are my favourite in the range. The thin frames are the perfect parallel for Brad's look and the round shape are great for those that have Brad's face shape.

Josh Franceschi

Being in the music industry and the specific genre that Josh is in, it's obvious that Josh's style is going to be super edgy and cool. Seeing Josh's style, the most iconic piece of clothing in his wardrobe is a good ol' leather jacket, whether it's attached to an uber cool hoodie or just the traditional fit. Leather jackets are awesome to just throw over your outfit and make yourself look that little bit more edgy, but it has to be understood that to get that good quality leather jacket (which I always push faux and real leather is not something I condone buying) they can be pretty expensive, like the BDG Faux Leather Quilted Biker Jacket from Urban Outfitters. Although you can buy cheaper versions looking on New Look and maybe even Primark, I'm not a fan of their styles, and I do believe in this instance that the more expensive they are the better they look.
To get that laid-back look that Josh is a fan of, style your leather jacket with some black skinnies, Old Skool Vans and plain tee (preferably white or black). You could even wear a  grey hoodie underneath for that "hood" affect Josh goes for with the hood overlapping the jacket.

Michael Clifford

My last Women's Alternatives post mentioned Luke Hemmings, former band member in 5 Seconds of Summer with Michael, and has been mentioned in other blog posts surrounding how amazing his style is (white shirt/black skinnies combo on point). However, I've never really given the other members a chance to shine, although I did crown Calum Hood my first male FIOTF, so I thought why not delve in to the depths of the most quirky member of the band and look at his wardrobe choices. It is clear that, like others in this post (especially Zayn and Brad), many people are interested in the style choices of Michael, which is why I decided to mention him in this post. Looking at his style, there is a lot of plaid, colour blocking and denim, so seeming as we've mentioned plaid with Sam, lets look at how to wear denim like Michael.
Obviously, Michael likes going for the vest-look, opting for no sleeves and giving that edge to his outfit usually when wearing plaid. I love the Crop Bull Denim Vest in Black from American Apparel, which would look great as a co-ord look this summer with matching black frayed shorts, cropped under shirt and statement Slip-On Vans to add a little colour to the outfit; these red leather vans are great for copying Michael's style as red is an obvious colour in his wardrobe and gives that edgy vibe that he depicts quite often, like recently at the iHeartRadio Awards where he sported a red leather jacket. Also, lets not mention the fact that the name of these shoes is 'Chilli Pepper' which is pretty awesome.

Let me guys know what you think to these alternatives and tell me if you try any of them out!
