Hair Revitilisation

We all have those days, whether the day after a night out, or a long day of travelling when your hair desperately needs some revitalisation, yet you don't have enough time before heading out to wash and style it all over again! So I wanted to show you a couple of tricks that I have learnt for keeping your hair volumised (if that's a word) and not looking so flat and heavy.

1. Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo is the most common way of revitalising your hair, and here's a few simple steps to getting the best results!

Firstly, make sure that your hair is brushed all the way through. If you have knots, the shampoo may not spread evenly, and when you're running your fingers through later on, it may be quite painful, depending on how much of a wild night you had! I have a tangle teaser, which I recommend, if you don't have one, you should purchase, as it is great at getting out those really tough knots; you can purchase them from any cosmetic/drug store!

Next, get your dry shampoo and spray it on your roots after shaking the can vigorously (I have Batiste Tropical 400 ml, purely because I run out too quickly and it is the nicest smell you'll ever encounter). Make sure that you keep it at a distance that isn't too far that it doesn't reach your hair or so close that it ends up coming out as thick white dust in your hair; not only is it a pain to try and get rid of, it also wastes a lot of the shampoo. Spray at the roots of your hair where the oil is majorly held, taking your hair in sections and spraying it evenly throughout.

After you've sprayed your hair, I tend to throw my head upside down and run my fingers through it roughly, spreading the dry shampoo throughout my hair. I used to just use my fingers, however I realised that putting your hair upside down gives it more volume and spreads the substance easier through your hair.

And then you're given the finished result; instant voluminous hair, ready for the big day ahead of you!

2. Corn Flour
Corn Flour is the same method as Dry Shampoo, however is an organic alternative that is better for your hair. Although it may not work as well as Dry Shampoo, it does draw the oil out of your hair and in to the corn flour, meaning that your hair looks less dull and can add more "oomph" to your locks. As the corn flour is thick, it will be put on quite heavily, meaning that you will have to spread it out more evenly when putting it on to your roots, ruffling your hair well in order for this to happen.
Corn flour is also good for your skin if you have an oily complexion. It draws the oils from your face, meaning that it is less shiny and looks healthier. To do this, just wash your face as your normal routine, then, with your face still wet, rub the corn flour in to your skin, leaving an almost paste on your face. Keep this on for 10 minutes before washing off, and, as it is a natural ingredient, you can do this more often that using face wash which could damage your skin using it too regularly.

3. Blow Dry
Another way that I noticed instantly gives you the volume you need for your hair to not look so heavy and greasy is to blow dry your hair before you go.

Before you blow dry, brush your hair thoroughly as you want to make sure you have as little tangles as possible, especially as after you blow dry it may become a little tangled anyway, so this means that it is prepared for "revitalisation".

When blow drying your hair, throw your head upside down and blow dry your roots using the nozzles that come with your hair dryer. Ruffle your fingers through your roots (make sure that your hands are clean, if you've got oil on your fingers from just putting your makeup on it will make it worse) and then blow dry the rest of your hair.

When you come up, your hair will instantly be bigger and bolder, and you'll be able to enjoy the rest of your day without worrying your hair is going to fall flat.

(With this last tip, I suggest that you put your hair up, or that you atleast pin your hair out of your face, as constantly touching your hair will lead it too instantly looking greasy and dull).

Hope you guys found this helpful, especially with those Christmas party nights coming ahead of you, and I'll leave you with a daily question;
